Soundscapes Shortplay

Life on the Fifth Day

A short play for the theatre by Annechien Koerselman, a young Dutch dramatist. At the start of the play we see a man who has lived in total silence for four days, the action starts on the fifth day. The period of living in total silence has made him hypersensitive. Even the sounds the public make, the first sounds he has heard in five days, bother him. During the play he's confronted with ever increasing noise levels. It makes him feel as is he's living in chaos. In order to be able to handle the noise levels he starts turning the cacophony of noise into music.

Play: Luc van Esch, cello: Paul de Jong.
